I know that every once in a while, the Xiaomi Home app doesn't find the thing at all, so I'll see if the accessories are still visible in Homebridge if that is the case. I'm not sure if it still connects to Mainland China servers, or if there's anything else that I can do to stop that. This is a downside of the device itself, though, from what I can tell. One other downside is that it displays the temperature in Celsius on the unit, but the Home app properly shows Farenheit.
It can still be accessed from the back of the unit if needed. The biggest issue that I had was that the "light" switch (turning the LED screen on and off) conflicted with another set of lights in the room (MiLight on Homebridge), so I had to turn that setting off. Also, the accessory gets dropped under "accessories", not "platform" in the config, which screwed me up once. When I finally got the database, I opened it up with SQLPro for SQLite on my Mac, opened the "token" table, and just scrolled over to find the IP and token.

I also made sure to run "npm install -g miio" in the command line to ensure that miio was installed - even though it showed as being installed on my Configuration UI platform, the accessories didn't work the first few times.

After installing the emulator on a Windows 10 computer, I side loaded a copy of ES File Explorer, and was able to navigate the rooted Android directories that way (the one that they suggest is rooted out of the box). I picked up the directions again today, but I did a few things differently. I got stuck, though, and gave up for a while: The method on the plugin's Github does not work anymore (it returns "?"), so you need to use an old copy of the Mi Home app to get access to its database where the token is posted.Ībout a month ago, I came across these directions on Reddit to retrieve this token. The problem is that you can't just drop this device into Homebridge with its IP address - you have to grab a token that is generated. I was looking to use this Homebridge plugin instead: There are lots of notifications for ads, and because I have to connect to Mainland China servers, I can't read any of it. I really wanted to get off of the Mi Home app, though. I would suggest turning it off if you are doing that, and try to air out the room before turning it back on. I have been running it in auto mode with no issues - except when I cook and there is some smoke involved, it'll show an air quality that is very low for a while and work louder. There is way less dust than there was before, and is usually very quiet. Overall, this one was a good buy, and has definitely helped keep the air consistently clean in my apartment. Apple also lists other Chinese ones on their website, but I can't understand their pages to know if they ship elsewhere. Compared with the Homekit-compatible Conway one $550, the Xiaomi 2S air purifier is way less expensive.
The filter replacement was something like $47, too. I paid $175 for the unit on eBay, and waited a long time for it to ship - at least a month.
